It's about half and half a mix of fairly insipid and uninspiring love story, and utterly demented Thai spaghetti western homage, complete with scenes of excessively overblown violence that have seemingly no other purpose than to make the audience laugh.
The DVD box ought to have an advert on it saying something like 'If you liked The Killer, but thought it could have done with a few more cowboys and a strange colour scheme that makes everything look like a Douglas Sirk wet dream, this is your kinda film'. Mind you, it'd be a bit long...

Mr Stanton is looking forward to this film.
It sounds so completely off it's head it's gotta be worth a watch.

Saw this one at the cinema (Curzon, Soho London), I had blast laughing at the OTT violence/gore & watching the arthouse crowd gasp & sit in silence.....
I'd call it a kitch western romance, not unlike a Bollywood production without the singing & set in the Thai countryside.
Quint, if you don't like it, i'll buy it off you if the price is right :D
Ciao Daliah.

Bought it yesterday and had a quick look last night – on the basis of a ten-minute sampling the transfer is absolutely superb: anamorphic and sourced from a well-nigh flawless print in conspicuously better condition than the one I saw in the cinema last year. The Thai-language 5.1 soundtrack sounded pretty good as well, and the electronic subtitles are clear, readable and optional. The only extra is the trailer (which is hilarious in itself, summing the film up beautifully).
I'll be reviewing this in more detail, hopefully later this week - but in the meantime, this is the review I wrote on its cinema release, and you can see the trailer (and various other extras that the disc doesn't have) on the official site.

Woohoo, I'll be having some of that then. It would have been a crime for such a beautiful looking flick to having anything but a spot on transfer.

Saw this yesterday. I thought it was amazing. Tongue in cheek, but still gets you involved. Best film I've seen for ages, and the first scene is completely beautiful.
