When I connect the tivo to the phone line using the cable sky installed for their box(no longer connected) the volume on the phone is really quiet,I have a caller display phone in the bedroom that just rings constantly when tivo is connected, the modem on the PC cuts off regularly and the phone rings when it does it.

Is my tivo possesed by evil spirits:nuts: what's up with it?

Sounds like too many things connected to the phone line.

As for missing the ends of programs, that's more to do with BBC and ITV messing around with their times to annoy each other, the 2.5.5 software update fixes it by allowing you to add padding time to the end of programs.

Wack, a couple of things to look at. You should have a total of 4 REN connected to your lines. A phone or modem should equal 1 REN each roughly. The number should be on or near the green circle on your kit. More than 4 REN and your phone company/engineer will simply tell you to reduce to 4. Secondly your extensions will be checked. Any DIY installations will simply be disconnected to confirm the line is ok without them. Finally any fault found not to be the responsibility of the phone company may require a charge for the visit/repair. :(

Thanks for the replies, the phone socket i'm using is the 1st in the line,I get the problem of low volume on the handset even just tivo and 1 phone connected, disconnecting tivo immediately increases handset volume, the caller display phone upstairs rings with a constant ring when tivo is connected and stops as soon as I disconnect it,I have no idea what's going on.

I have it on good authority wires 2 and 5 are the wrong way round on your master socket or extension. Does plugging any other phone or modem in downstairs cause a similar fault?

I'll try it with a modem tomorrow,a phone plugged into this socket works fine, the extension to the tivo is the one the sky installer put in,the tivo makes it's daily call ok and downloads without problem,
thanks for the advice cablemonkey.
