Does anyone know if the original release of Blade Runner (with voiceover on soundtrack) is available or going to be made available on DVD.

Cheers

It's not on dvd.

Ridley Scott has been working on a new "final" director's cut (not a rush job like the last director's cut). It will be a mixture of the work print and director's cut with some things removed to close up plot holes (ie. the missing replicant)

A theatrical release is being planned for the US (no news on UK yet) with a DVD release at the same time or soon after that. Currently rumoured to be a 3 disc set.

If Ridley Scott is planning a final 'directors cut' would I be right in assuming that this version will also be without the original voice over?

Yes and No. Apparently Ridely Scott is to include some voice over this time but not as much.

Spolier -

Oh and Ridely Scott couldn't believe people didn't get that Deckard IS a replicant so he will make it more obvious this time.

Funny I thought that was the whole, we weren't 100% sure.

As said above no only video at the moment.

BTW only the current DC of Blade Runner is available on DVD at the moment.

Use spolier tags, some people may complain.

As long as you use spoiler-tags in your quote, Tequila, which he'll be powerless to alter!

I did say "spoiler" before hand (I admit I spelt it wrong :p ) although I didn't know you could include spoiler tags and don't know how to apply them.

I also don't know how to read the spoiler if I wanted it.

You see I don't know a lot :D

I haven't seen the whole fim so for me this is a rather LARGE SPOILER and would be better blacked out as MOST people do. I have even linked to teh thread!!!!!!!!!

My point about the films now missing voice over relates to the fact that the original cinema release (complete with voiceover) I feel was a better version. MY REASON......well the whole films style was obviously taken with more than a passing reference to the film noir style.

And fittting within that genre, the voiceover I feel fleshed out the Deckard character more fully than the Directors Cut. If you watch many of the 'Raymond Chandler' based noir films the voiceover explains the main charecters motives and principles with good effect. Amore modern example being 'Chinatown'. I dare say some or many of you would disagree.........that I look forward to..
