Do you need all matching speakers for home cinema?

No, you don't.

However, a matched centre and front speakers is desirable.
It's probably easiest to get a match by buying the centre from the same range as the fronts, but get a listen first, as they don't all match that well (most do though). Occasionally you can get a better match by using another manufacturer's centre speaker - all a bit trial and error really.

DVD-A and SACD may be another story however - here it's best to have all speakers the same, not just make, but model as well.
