That if you make an order using a GC, then subsequently cancel that order before it reaches the despatch stage.....you LOSE the GC!!! I e-mailed them to ask what had happened to a £5.00 GC I'd had on a cancelled order - just had a reply to say that the GC was for use on "first orders only". No matter that the order hadn't actually been completed - as I'd applied it once, it's now gone. Shocking   :(
It must depend on the type of GC, I've cancelled orders before and still been able to use it on future orders.
Promotional certificates are attached to an actual order and as such if the order is cancelled the certificate is cancelled with it.
Non-promotional certificates act as a credit on your account but are a lot rarer (basically you only get them if someone such as orange equity buys one for you). In these cases the certificates are attached to your account and if the order is cancelled the certificate is credited back to your account for your next purchase
I just cancelled an order which had a promotional certificate and my next order had the £2 taken off.
In all but one time when I have cancelled an order with a GV attached (promo one) it has been credited to my account. The only time it didn't was because the GV was now past it's expiry date so not usable. Since I had to cancel this title as the date had been put back by about 2 months, I emailed Amazon and they sent me a replacement, which I seem to remember was a proper voucher too :D
Moving to Supplier Forum :)
What you need to do is make an order for a far off title and combine with the order with the GC attached to it, then cancel the item you no longer want, this will keep the GC for you, eep doing that and the GC will stay in limbo, until you finally decide to buy something.
Same for minimum order GCs just make sure the order contains the minimum by combining orders until you are ready to actually buy the items.
I returned a book once which was bought with a voucher but they didn't credit the voucher back to my accoount, I emailed them about it and they credited the original voucher and gave me another one :D
