If you check out the forums on www.totaldvd.com or any tele related forums you will see a lot of unhappy Sony owners.

Look at pannys or even the odd JVC

Maybe there are a large number of unhappy Sony owners because they sell shedloads of 'em?

In the interest of balance I'd just like to say I love my Sony FQ75 :)

And if you check out the other forums you will see a LOT of them have inherrent problems and Sony have had to re-call certain batches.

Customer service problems and various petitions have only recently moved Sony to act.

They were also featured on Watchdog.

So in the interest of fairness and before anyone shells out a lot of money a run through various forums seems logical.

And I speak as someone who owns a Sony and who is very happy with it. But that does not blind me to their CURRENT MODELS problems.

For the first month or so when I took delivery of the FQ75 I didn't actually "watch" any DVD or TV just spent my time looking for imperfections in picture quality since so many folk posted on various problems. What a waste of time... and if I'd found *anything* wrong I would have complained believe me!

And as to Watchdog...

... where did the rest of my post go  ... what the hell it's late and time for drink.

Have you considered a Thomson TV??
There is one on www.unbeatable.co.uk for £729 and also one on www.empiredirect.co.uk for £640.
Both of these TV's are 100 HZ and 32 " widescreen.

i'm contemplating purchasing one, but i have had no previous experience on Thompson TV's.

Has anyone got one? is so what do you think of it?

I don't see the point of your last post.

You are happy with your Sony-good for you.

I am happy with my Sony-good for me.

But this was'nt and isn't whats up for debate. Someone asked about a Sony model and I directed him to a few sites that contain some points about the model. Are all these people posting just to wind you up because you are happy with yours?.

You neither refute or make any relevant point about these problems other than to state you are happy with your model. Well obviously if you are happy you would'nt be up to speed on SOME batches that have gone out with some major problems.

Whilst Watchdog is hardly the bastion of consumer TV it at least brings something to the fore which then prompts a response from a large company. But then I don't suppose you would care because you are happy with yours.

Enjoy your Sony as I do but try and get your head out of the clouds about the brand if you have no in depth knowledge of whats going on.

ok come on people i want a tele, i need some good suggestions and criticism so i can make my mind up. i have always bought a sony television and in the past have found them to be very reliable and value for money.

now i have been into a few electrical retailers and they are suggesting i opt for a panasonic or toshiba television. i have found this toshiba on comets site toshiba 82ZD16B (http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/) so what do you think of this. anyone got one of these?

also i'd like to say that i'm going to buy a home theatre kit after i have bought the tele so i need some advice and consideration on this when purchasing a tele.

thanks for any replies.

also can anyone suggest a magazine that has good reviews of widescreen televisions.
