Trying to play NBA 2K6 and i get an error message :

This game does not support PAL-50. Please change your display setting to PAL-60.

Trouble is, I don't have this option. My console is connected via HDMI.

Can anyone advise?

It's a self-defence mechanism to prevent achievement whoring.

You have to swap cables (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917304)

My 360 is connected via HDMI too but must already be on PAL 60 as I played NBA2K6 without that message coming up.

Ah bugger. Don't have any other cables. Oh well, back to Tigasefi it goes. Thanks for sending it anyway Mr. Speed

Found this......

You can reset the console back to PAL 50 by pressing Y and holding the right trigger as it's firing up, but then if you need to change it to PAL 60 you've gotta go through all of that cable juggling crap again

Ah cheers. Bearing in mind I wouldn't be able to switch back to PAL 60 would that be worth it? I mean, what difference does it make to the picture?

No idea tbh. Mine must be set to PAL 60 for NBA2K6 to run and I've been happy with the picture...and had no probs with any games not running.

Cables in the xbox box?

That will be long gone

Oh well, I'll try it and if no good I'll buy a set of component cables. Cheers for the advice

Actually no, My xbox is already at pal 50 so I would need some cables to change it to pal 60. That wouldn't work. Ah well :)

Its a well known problem - loads of game only support 60hz - a quick look at my games shelf -Elder scrolls 4, Crackdown, Halo 3, Virtua tennis 3, Dynasty wariors5, Dead or alive 4 are all 60hz games - some of these will run in 50hz but are jerky and have weird problems.
The problem is via HD the display will be running at 60hz but the default setting on the Dash is 50hz - you cant see the option to change unless you use SD cables.
You could try lowering the HDMI Resolution down to SD and then see if the option is available?
Thankfully all 360's come with SD cables so just spend 5mins swapping cables round and changing the settings.

Yeah - but if you've lost the cables......I did try lowering in to SD (God it looked awful) but it didn't work. Not the end of the world........:
