Just trying to set my surround sound up in the new house and there is no easy way to 'wire' the rear speakers - short of getting someone on to take up an awful lot of carpet and hope I can run cable underneath etc etc...
The option looks to be wireless rears - few options seem to be superfi have some for around 70-80, richer have JBL for £150, although they also have the Sony all in one dvd / amp / speakers (inc wireless rear) for £250!
There seem to be dedicated kits for some brands e.g. kef / samsung, but I've Onkyo - else the rocketfish audio spender, but only seems to be available in America.
Any suggestions / experience for this?
Thanks

The only experience i've had is with cheap ones, they pick up interference like you are tuning a radio. I would hope expensive ones would be much better.
I've always found it too complicated whenever I've looked into it. I now use some of that flat wire but have threaded it around the room, rather than straight accross, so it only just sits under the carpet - was much easier than carpet lifting shenanigans.
There's some Ixos flat wire on eBay at the moment for £1.29/metre. Thinking about some for my front room, as the rug and my rear speaker wires 'disagree' at the moment!

I use adhesive flat speaker wire which chases round the skirting boards. Wireless speakers aren't going to be much cop really.

I'm looking at the sony davdz680w - anyone had any experience of this, as it uses wireless rear speakers
Bear in mind that wireless rear speakers aren't truly "wireless" since they still require mains power. As to whether say the davdz680w is going to be acceptable, it depends on your expectations really. I would search on AVForums.com as you'll probably find some specific user experiences there. Options like the Kef wireless system with a standalone av amp/receiver do work pretty well (and have the least compromised sound) but you would sort of expect that since they are relatively expensive. Certainly compared to an all-in-one package, but you may have to accept compromises if you definitely can't used wired.

After much prevaricating finally sorted this by buying these http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/6493
These were a measly £400 or £800 with a full set of speakers.... But Superfi had an open box sale so I got them for £50 - Don't have kef speakers, but a couple of banana plugs and a bit of cable nd they all work.
The new version is for all speakers not just a specific Kef one but they are £450.
So got it all sorted and happy with it OH says - why don't we swap dining room and TV room round - which has skirting boards to run cable round or floor boards exposed so I could go under.
I know wired is best but this solution worked - although at £400 was happy to keep my rears at the front and have trailing cables when used as we only really use surround sound for DVD's etc - but I guess I'll not be the only person with this problem.
But I guess I was lucky!
