Excellent movie, I'll be first in line for a rip.
BTW see the Trial of Jack the Ripper on Discovery?
Sir William Gull only got something like 16% of the audience vote as a likely killer. James Maybrick was voted the most likely killer (due to his diary and a watch with scratches on it of the victims initials, his name, and "I am Jack".
Didn't really convince me to be honest.
I personally liked the Michael Caine version of Jack The Ripper, a two part classic TV drama.
Bye the way, where did you get the date from, is it on pre-order?

There's a really good documentary available on video, hosted by Micheal Winner, and narrated by Tom Baker, which goes into much detail about the James Maybrick angle.

I saw a good documentary about the James Maybrick connection (probably the one Creamstick is referring to) which was really convincing. Having seen that, the Discovery Channel Trial thing was a complete waste of time because in the silly amount of time available no one was able to put forward a case that really stood out above the other suspects - I suspect that the audience went with the choices they made based on evidence they had seen previously... it's all a load of rubbish that sort of thing anyway.
I'm hoping to see From Hell this weekend actually if it is still on in that writhing hotbed of cinematic culture that is West Cumbria!

Isaw the James Maybrick documentary some years ago..'look, James Maybrick.' Very good, but I came to the conclusion that he was a Jack the Ripper fantasist more than anything else.
I think parts of this documentary is shown in the London Dungeons.

Maybrick was more convincing than Sir Gill, why would they even bother hiding the marrage and the baby daughter? If it happened it was without the Queen's consent so was illegal the baby was illegitimate just another royal bast**d.

PaulaB, quick, spoiler tags!
I think there was rising Republicanism at the time or something so a scandal would have damaged the royals..possibly irrevocably.
Everyone who hasn't already should get a copy of Moore's original graphic novel. It's superb. The art fits the subject just right, even if it isn't refined as something from Marvel or Image. My copy leaves black ink all over your fingers after reading meaning you have to wash every time you read the book. Very clever.
I've heard that the US print differs strongly from the European cut, though. Supposedly it's toned down quite a bit.

Yes a superb, porno graphic novel.
Anyway, after extensive research, years studying the case for hours on end, I've come to the conclusion that this is Jack the Ripper:
