Been reading a few hints about this for a while now,and it looks like it has been bumped up the Anchor Bay release schedule, maybe as early as a June release.
It contains four great films
Bloostained Shadow
Short Night of the glass Dolls
Who Saw Her Die
Case of the Bloody Iris
Ive been racking my brains to work out what the fourth disc was,and am thrilled to realise that it is in fact "What are those strange drops of blood on the body of Jennifer",one of my all time favourite giallos!!
The DVD event of the year as far as Im concerned.
Cheers for posting this monkeyman. I'd heard there was a giallo box set planned but hadn't seen the actual titles included until now. Really looking forward to seeing these - any further details on the release?

Just spotted the set in the April-June 2002 coming soon section on the Anchor Bay website-still not many details of the disc specs though.
Ive just watched my Who saw her Die and Strange Drops of Blood again on VHS-my appetite is well and truly whetted.
Now if someone could just release English language disc on Bloodstained Butterfly and Black Belly of the tarantula....
Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive site / essay / whatever that outlines what Giallo is all about in terms of genre credentials as well as listing all the seminal Giallo titles?
I've been watching lots of early Argento movies recently and I want to know more about Giallo as a 'movement' or whatever it is defined as!
cheers

That's the worst title I've ever heard.
"Hey! Do you wanna go and see..." :D

Giallo, in essense, means "yellow" and refers to the cover of the pulp novels that the films are often inspired by. So, the Giallo genre is basically pulp murder mysteries, often quite brutal and exploitative, with twists and imaganative set pieces.

Ive just posted a "league table" of giallos at Horrorview.com on the freak forum.Ive got about a hundred of these films, many of which are reviewed at the above site,or at Dark dreams website.
The boxset itself is looking mighty fine, and is a must for ALL fans of Italian cinema, not just giallo buffs.
As a reference point I would recommend Adrian Luther smiths book Blood and Black Lace, which is available from Darkside magazine.
