Sky's promo for the launch of the Premier League. Surprised they had the energy to actually play after all that hot locker room action ...

1992.....when footballers were ugly.
Are David James and Ryan Giggs the only ones left from the first Premier league season?

Reckon Nick Barmby must have played for Spurs at some point that season.
Don't forget Sol Campbell ;)

Brings back some memories. We didnt have Sky back then but I used to go round a mates house all Sunday afternoon to watch football and the Simpsons.

Good call, saw one of those ESPN classic things tonight and saw a very youthful Sol playing for Spurs!
Good shouts, although Barmby had a spell outside the top flight, as did Campbell.
We played him up front sometimes in his early years!
Andy Ritchie, Paul Stewart - bloody hell. Even the montage of club badges at the end there - just seems like a world away now, Oldham, Wimbledon, etc. Mind you, that is 18 years ago! My god, I'm old...
Can still picture that Sheringham goal for Forest against Liverpool - first Sky Prem goal wasn't it?

I remember going to the first "Monday night" matches - I saw Arsenal v Man City one week and was amused to see the Shamen wander on the pitch at half time - get roundly booed for 5 minutes as they played "Ebeneezer Good" or whatever and then slope off. Huge firework display at the end of the games too. Cheerleaders - what a load of ******* toss that was.
The most shocking change though is that you could just walk up to a game on the day back then anywhere - White Hart Lane, Highbury etc and get in no bother for less than ten quid. Unbelievable now looking back.
John Salako is the Palace representative in that trailer - and it was his absence for most of the season that went the furthest to losing us our place after a four year run at the top. He started the season coming back from an ACL injury, which was something you didn't do at that time - he'd had an experimental transplant from a dead man. Now almost all players come back from it. But, after two months it went again and helped send Palace on a slide down to Division 1, despite getting an incredible 49 points, on goal difference from Oldham.
I guess there are probably 10 to 12 clubs in that trailer that looking back on their decision to resign from the Football League the season before, would probably not have done it, had they known what they know now (which would have blocked the league from ever happening). I think everyone thought that here was a chance to raise the profile of their club to something similar to the 'Big 5' (which were Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man U and Everton), not that most smaller clubs would find themselves financially crippled by trying to hang onto the coat-tails of the big clubs.

Sure was as it was my first year as a season ticket holder and I was not happy as the Sunday service buses are/were rubbish! - Too young to drive. Scored in the Bridgford End. Shame the rest of the season didn't carry on like that :(
Playing Crystal Palace tonight so could be a match from 1992 just 1 league lower

Or 1993/4, of course! We both went down, you were favourites to storm the league but we beat you to the Championship quite easily. You'll win tonight, though.

I remember that, right in the top corner  I think Forest were re-building the stand behind that goal weren't they, also remember what I think was the first "Monday night" match, Man City v QPR, with a load of fireworks and dancing girls with pompoms, the things you remember :D
