Hi,

Is anyone using the above combination of devices? I have just sold my 360 and purchased a PS3. Previously I was using the 360 on the only HDMI port my TV has with no problems at 720p (maximum TV supports).

My new PS3 when connected with HDMI does send a signal to the TV as the No Signal message dissapears and when I press info on the remote for the TV I can see that it is running at 1366 * 768 but all I get is a plain black screen. No sound comes out not even the boot noise and the controller does nothing.

I have tried powering the PS3 on and holding the button down so it beeps twice to reset. I have tried it on my Toshiba LCD upstairs and it worked fine with the same HDMI cable.

I have found many threads about this on other forums but no solid answer as to what the problem is. Some things mention HDCP handshaking issues but I am not sure what I can do about that. I am going to try another HDMI cable but I am not sure this will make any odds as that cable is fine with the 360, fine with upscaling DVD player and worked with the TV upstairs and PS3.

Any ideas!?

Thanks

Well that res you listed is a vga res of the lcd, it should be reporting 1920x720

The TV only supports HD at 720p which is 1366x768 so it is correct.

I have done some research and spoke to Sony and it turns out the handshaking on PS3 slims is different to the old PS3 and it causes problems on some televisions, particularly Samsungs. Loads of threads about it on other forums.

It looks like there is no fix so I am just going to have to use component instead which will give me 720p on this TV.

HDMI is a digital input, and supports modes 1280x720 and 1920x1080, the resolution your reporting is an analog resolution. So for some reason your LCD thinks its receiving an analog signal not a digital signal
