Space is becoming an issue with my HC setup so can anyone recommend a smallish (width being the critical dimension) but good AV amp. Looking for 5.1 mainly.

a 'bijou amp' - sound like you have been watching 'Location, Location, Location' too much on Channel 4! :D

Have you looked at the Teac AG-H550 Amp, it's only 285 mm wide as opposed to the usual 440 mm. I'm sure I saw it got a decent review in one of the Hi-fi mags recently.

Thanks TimK.
Can anyone refer me to a review of this?

Thanks

I would have said the Teac, maybe also those lovely blue Nad ones. The Teac has been getting better reviews though, with the matching DVD player. I'll have a look round for reviews later today, has been getting 5 out of 5s in most magazine reviews i've seen.

If you could that would be excellent.

Just looked up the blue Nad you mentioned - the L75. What a cool looking piece of kit . Now, if it sounds as good as it looks that may be my next investment.

For the Nad Combo (these look the best in my opinion)

The Teac combo have had better reviews (What Hifi and one of either Home Entertainment/HCC gave them 5 stars), but I need to find them on the net.

Thanks for digging out the review website. The nad is in the lead at the moment on looks, and according to the review on sound too. Let me know if you find anything on the Teac.

Cheers
