my relative needs a small amount of home care-comes to £32 a week (this is the full amount) which they are more than happy to pay.

Then we are told that they will need a financial assessment.

Do they have to have one to access the care. It amounts to two half hour calls and an afternoon trip to a daycare group.

I feel it is very intrusive at this level of care that they are receiving.

I was told that if they are not prepared to disclose the amount of savings they have -and it's only slightly above the top rate-then should they need more care at some point in the future-they will go back to this date and to assess the situation and make sure that 'they have not deprived themselves of income '. In other words -spent some of their money.

It just smacks of Big Brother to me.

This relative is articulate, mobile etc-just gets a bit forgetful at times.

They will be very distressed at this level of intrusion.
