Try turning off any processing the TV is doing ie 100hz or intelligent frame creation, also make sure the sky box is outputing a 720p signal not 1080i so the TV doesnt have to downscale and deinterlace the image.

I notice motion blur on plasma. It's normal. People who say plasmas have no motion blur are telling porkies. You can minimise it, as mentioned above, by making sure you're feeding a 720 panel a 720 image and playing with the contrast/brightness settings.

I don't agree with that, as I think it is simply a case of some people being more susceptible to motion blur than others - the vast majority of people (certainly on a Panasonic Plasma) will be more than happy with the resulting picture.

Sounds like the OP is one of the unlucky sensitive few ... getting an HD source is not going to eliminate motion blur (if you saw it beforehand on SD) you do realise this.

I do agree that it is more a sensitivity issue - just as some people do not see the green phosphor lag and for others it's extremely annoying! In this instance, you can try to lessen rather than totally eliminate it. Make sure the television is properly adjusted and that things like contrast and brightness are not set too high. These settings (http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Panasonic-TH42PX80/Settings/) should serve as a starting point for this particular model.

Look for the legions of threads moaning about watching fast-moving sports on a plasma. It's more than just a few people having an issue with motion blur. A lot of this is to do with it being more noticeable on an HD picture, but still. Try watching any film that has lots of fast-panning shots in space, for example. You'll see far more motion blur on the stars than on a decent CRT.

anephric, you are the fussiest person on earth. First it's lag in FPS' and now it's lag in displays! :D

But people are always more vocal when they have issues rather than are happy, it's the nature of the Internet. Those that post in threads are a tiny minority of owners. That's not to say it isn't annoying if a particular issue affects you but I would hardly describe it as 'legions'.
