View Full Version : Virgin bundles - what do YOU pay? URGENT REQUEST
Can I ask you what you are paying for your Virgin services?
I have :
V+HD
Sky Sports
TV XL
Unlimited Calls
20MB Broadband.
I was quoted £79 a month for the complete service and TV free for the first two months.
My first two months with them has just ended. For those two months (with the free TV) I was actually charged £85 a month! Now my free TV has ended my charge has gone up to £99 a month.
I didn't know this until I got a letter through the post this morning threatening to cut me off unless I paid them £100 immediately as I was "in danger over going above my credit limit".
I rang cancellations and they have said that they are prepared to drop my price down to the originally quoted £79 plus a further £2 a month discount but ONLY if I sign up for a guaranteed 12 months. They will NOT apply this retrospectively, and they will not give me my 2 months free TV back which I was promised.
Question is - what do you guys pay for your service? Are they ripping me off, or is £99 the standard price and did someone tell me wrong before install?
To be honest - I find the whole Virgin pricing structure totally bemusing
But I am NOT happy.
I've got
V+
TV XL
50 Meg broadband
Unlimited calls
comes to about 64 quid a month
If you're not happy go to the top and e-mail the Chief Exec and you'll get a good response. I've had nothing but problems with these jokers so far

Thank you :
Dear Sir
Well, I am absolutely shocked with the service since I signed up with Virgin Media. I originally signed up back in July for telephone and broadband, and kept my TV with Sky (who I had been with for seven continuous years).
In around October last year - you started advertising cheap deals on 50MB broadband for all, including existing customers, and a free netbook. The price quoted was for LESS than I was paying for 20MB but every time I tried to get the deal I was quoted a completely different price. however, it was always more than I was paying at the moment, and more than friends were getting the same deal for. Eventually, after several weeks of haggling and different quotes I was so demoralised I just gave up trying.
Three months ago, I decided to explore the possibility of switching my TV service over to you as well, in order to save money and keep everything with one provider. This was quite a step after being with Sky for so long. I asked for a quote for TV XL, Sky Sports, and my existing services and was quoted £75 a month. It seemed a great deal so I went for it.
The installation happened on the expected day, and I was told my first 2 months would be free of charge for TV as an introductory offer. My first bill came through - for £85. I was a bit shocked, but I paid it. Then I changed my bank account details, and all the companies I had DDs with were able to change my details apart from Virgin Media. they said I had to pay one month manually, and THEN set up the DD, The second bill came through. That was for £85 as well. Again I was shocked, again I paid it (this time manually) and then made my third call in three days to set up my new direct debit.
Then this morning I got a shocking letter. Virgin Media were telling me that if I didn't pay £100 immediately, my services would be cut off. I couldn't believe it. In seven years with Sky, and then nine months with you I have never missed a payment, and now you were threatening me with being cut off.
I rang in to enquire as to why the bill was so much. The short version was that price I was quoted when I rang in was not a correct price and there was no way that you could honour it. In other words, the sales representatives in your Indian call center either deliberately lied to me, or didn't know what they were doing. I suspect, as they asked me to quote what I was paying for Sky before they gave me a quote, that they DELIBERATELY went under it in order to get me to sign up, but I cannot prove it.
I went through to retentions - who told me that they were prepared to lower my present contract by £16 a month which would be £2 more than I was originally quoted (so you are overcharging me by £18 a month presently), but that they couldn't backdate it to the start of my contract. This effectively means that my "free TV for two months" was wiped out. In addition to this, they are now telling me if I want this price I have to sign up to a twelve month contract - something that was never mentioned when I originally signed up. Oh, and as you bill "up front" I would have to pay the outstanding £100 I "owe" plus next months bill in advance - meaning an outlay of more than £150.
I am just shocked. After signing Virgin media's praises to my friends and family for the weeks after I got V+ HD installed - I now find myself ringing round them (some of whom have signed up and awaiting installation) and warning them to drop out quick, apologising profusely for having mislead them.
I can see no option for myself than to go back to Sky - unless you have any other suggestions? I would be keen to know how I would be able to trust your company again after my experiences up until now.
many thanks in advance for your reply
In fairness Sky are cocking me around as well. When i cancelled my service with them, they cancelled everything apart from the HD subscription which they carried on billing me for two months. They are now threatening to send a debt of £20 to the debt collectors  for their mistake :cuckoo:
My package, as of Dec 09:
1 x V+ box
2 x standard STB
XL TV
Movies and Sports
Telephone Evenings and Weekends
20 Mb BB
£87 per month
Cheers all - but I don't need to know any more.
Got a phone call from the chief execs office after sending that email earlier. They were most apologetic. Have adjusted my bill, given me a discount, adjusted future bills, given me a credit as an apology onto next months bill, and also offered me free installation on 50Mb (I declined because I'm trying to reduce monthly outgoings and it's not essential).
So, a right result - although we shouldn't have to go to these lengths and I did make that clear to her. She was very nice though.
Thanks utero.
The VIP service is about £87 (I think) which includes what you quote above, plus Sky Movies and an extra V box. You should not have to pay £99 for what you have quoted

Virgin Media are famous for being incompetent with their billing, after many happy years with Telewest, we signed up to Virgin after moving to an ex-NTL area and had 18 months of incorrect bills, threats of legal action when they cancelled a direct debit then kicked off when they couldn't draw money () - that Neil fella must be busy with people banding his email address about
