Hi there,

After many months of struggling, my credit card company has agreed to refund me the cost of my 2 year old Philips LCD after it failed on me last December. So, I'm now shopping for a 42" LCD/plasma to use with my Sony BR player, Sky HD, 360 and Wii. I'm also thinking about upgrading my old Sony amp to break into the HD sound arena. I've got a budget of 1200-1400 all in.

So a few questions: is it worth upgrading the amp, are the new sound formats really as impressive as going from stereo to Dolby Digital? Any recommendations on TVs/amps?

Cheers,

Mark.

I think the upgrade to HD Audio is worth it providing you have a decent source from a Blu-Ray and a set of decent speakers.

I have the Denon 1909 and very pleased with it.

I prefer Plasma over LCD picture wise and a trusted brand like Panasonic/Pioneer but everyone has their own opinion.
