alright, my girlfriends on O2 and for some reason over the last month or so she's not recieving most of the txts i send her from my Orange phone, before that it was fine everything went through ok and i'm still recieving txts from her no problem. When i send her a txt it seems to go through fine and i get a delivery report saying its been delivered but she never gets it. I've txt some of my mates on 02, they all recieve them ok and she gets txt's from other people on orange ok as well.

so was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem cos we've no idea who to compain to? She rang O2 and they told her to take her sim out, wipe it and replace, which seems completely ridiculous to me!! anyway just not sure if its a problem with orange, O2 or her phone...

anyone got any ideas cos although its quite useful sometimes it is doing my head in a bit??

I had a similar problem with vodafone. They said I had an old sim which was probably causing the problem so they sent me a new one. They also said to change the operator selection to manual rather than auto in my phone settings.

Good Afternoon budakhan

I'm part of Vodafone's Web Relations team and would like to offer some help and advice.

Ig your girlfriend is having problems receiving text messages from you I would suggest that she has another word with O2 to see if they can investigate the text messages at network level, as they may be able to see where they are getting lost.

Although taking the SIM out of the phone and wiping it may sound a bit daft, it can often do the trick. It's usually the SIM cards connection to the network that's not updating properly, which can stop messages being sent or received. If the connection stays out of date for long enough, it can also stop calls going through too.

You can also try manual roams on her phone to see if this pushes the connection back through and allows your messages through. If she's had the same SIM for a while (over 18 months) it may be an idea to get a replacement, as they don't last forever, so it might just be about to give up!

You can also check the message settings in both of your phones, see how long the validity period of your messages is set to. If you've set your Validity period to just a couple of hours, and she's got her phone turned off, or out of signal until after the time is up, your phone will stop trying to send the message anyway, so it's like you've never sent anything!

If she has a Samsung handset, there's the possibility that she's added your number to a Block list on the phone. It can be done by accident very easily, but it means any messages you send to her number will never be displayed on her phone, although your phone shows they have been delivered. This would effect all messages you send to her though, and from your post this doesn't seem to be happening.

If you're still not having any luck, you can try contacting Orange, to see if they can check your text messages at the network level to find any reasons why they aren't all getting though.
