Having just watched the poor quality WMV I got to thinking the reason it was pulled.

The only reason I can guess at is that they didn't get the authorisation for Sister Sledge's We Are Family.

Of course, I could be totally wrong.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Anchor Bay had everything ready, including music clearance, before having to pull it at the last moment. Even if it was the music I'm sure it could be replaced with another (cheaper) version of the same track.

Not naming any names but a certain director was asked by a certain film studio to pull it in regards to a certain new blockbuster superhero movie coming out

Hope I wasnt too vague :D

Why would pulling WTW make a difference to Spiderman ?.

Well think about if people saw WITW before spider-man and saw what the directors work was like coupled with the Evil Dead in COUGHsonysCOUGH eyes it might disuade people from seeing there big blockbuster movie....

im not saying its rational but then studios rarely are

Or maybe im an idiot

Did that disuade people from going to see Lord of the Rings? I wonder how many people who saw Peter Jackson receiving his five or so BAFTAs have seen Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles or Braindead??? Come to think of it, I wonder if any of the judges (or whatever) that picked PJ have seen those films...

It certainly brought a smile to my face...;)

Yeah I think your off the mark someway mate.
I cant see how having WTW on the disc makes a lick of difference to SR rep one way or the other.
The only people buying the book are fans of the dead films who have already seen Evil Dead at least a dozen times before.

Yes but I didnt want to admit that one of my idols doesnt want his fans to see his early work that is clearly quite important to them although I can see his point, put it this way it was someone at Rennaissance Pictures FACT

Why not just post the reason that you uncovered, instead of all this "I know something you don't know" nonsense?

Aside from ruining my theory, you probably shouldnt admit that in public.

All the reviews say 'Cult classic' blah blah blah

I figure that I might aswell get the best version avaliable to introduce me to the world of Evil Dead :)

Bruce Cambell has given an official reason as to why Within the Woods was removed from the new Anchor Bay release.
Whilst promoting The Evil Dead at the Oak Street Cinema in Minneapolis, Bruce said "clearances from the actors proved too expensive to merit its inclusion".

So there,
Interesting.
