Can this be done? A friend has a region b machine, and is wondering if you can update with the region a firmware? Worried that it might brick the player.

I've read this while hunting around for a hack for my LG BD360. No idea if it works or not, but anyway:

To set DVD Region to “any”, download file “6000.zip” (often also called “LG6000.zip”) from this link:

http://www.multi-region.net/_media/6000.zip

Save the file and then unzip and extract it to your hard drive. Now burn the subdirectory RMTM0000 and its contents (not the text file) onto a CD-ROM (ISO format, “closed” CD-ROM). Insert CD-ROM into the LG BD 370 P player, and when the Region Management System screen is displayed, set the Region Code to “0” using your remote. Once done, press “PAUSE” on you remote to save, and you’re done!

Apparently on the 350 it will also bring up the option to change Blu-ray region as well as the DVD region, but obviously I can't verify any of this.

Not sure if I'm going to attempt mine or not - a bit worried it might lead to trouble, plus do I really need all those tempting region A titles to help me empty my wallet?

HTH.

the region hack works with both dvd and blu ray discs but only if you haven't updated the player to the latest firmware.

Am interested in this, but have always updated when it has asked for an update.

So is there now way it can be done if you have latest firmware? Which firmware would be classed as latest?

i'm not sure mate, but from what i've read the hack doesn't work when the firmware has been updated from the one the player is shipped with. you could always try though as it will still work with dvd's.
