Having just bought a new projector which supports progressive scan I'm thinking of upgrading my DVD player to one that outputs progressive scan, I've heard good things about the Pioneer 747A but I'm also tempted by the Denon 2800. Has anyone got any experience of these players, or links to reviews etc?
I'm currently using a Sony 7700 with Component output, am I likely to notice much improvement if I upgrade.
The Denon can apparently be tweaked to output Progressive Pal, does anyone have any info on this, a link to a webpage with info or any experience of using it?

Having a S7700 myself since `98, I recently compared the 747 over xmas to my resident sony 9000es and a few other machines. To be honest, get a demo, but you`ll end up with the Pioneer:)

The main worry I had about the Pioneer is that it seems to support just about every format going and has an onboard DD decoder (which I don't need), I know this sounds like a good thing but I would also think it means I'm paying for lots of stuff that I don't need (I'm not really bothered about MP3 playback, SVCD, DVD-A or SACD).
The Denon obviously has a good name behind it and there's also the Pal progressive hack, is there something like this that can be done to the pioneer?
Has anyone compared these two players head to head?
Also how about the Pioneer 939, how does that compare to the 747? It appears to be a higher end model but is it also older? Is there a 949 coming?
