Some help required here folks!

In the market for a 37” TV and Panasonic has emerged as my manufacturer of choice.

My choice lies, at the moment, between the P37X10, the L37S10 and the L37S10.

The two panels may look like a very strange toss-up – they are on opposite ends of the price scale, one is 720p and one is 1080p – but these are the two that seem to get the best write ups. The S10 appears to be good too but apparently has issues with colour (probably won’t bother me as much anyway due to my colour blindness)?

The room itself is quite big and lets a large amount of light in. I’ll be sitting about 4-5 feet away when watching Blu-ray, which will be the sets main job. Other seating positions are further away, but 37” is the maximum I’m allowed to get away with! A significant factor is that my living quarters may be downscaled in the next 6 months or so, so the viewing distance will likely be nearer 4-6 feet for everyone.

I’d like some advice about the sets and, specifically, whether you think the G10 is worth the extra cash over the other two or the sacrifice of 1080p for the plasma is worth it?

Thanks!

not really helpful, but ...

are you correct about your viewing distances ? So your eye will be only 4 (to 5) feet away from the front of the screen ? Seems incredibly close to me !

Probably not! It's more likely closer to six/seven feet after I get rid of the bulky CRT and reorganise the place a bit! :-)

The g10 is a smashing telly - there's a massive thread on it over at the AV Forums which is well worth a read if your tempted, but, ultimately, only you can decide if its worth the extra for 1080p.

If you're mainly going to be watching SD I'd say go for the X10 which is also a great telly, but for watching Bluray, I'd go for the G10.

for a 37" tv i would def go for a 720p
plenty of info at av forums
only real benefit of 1080p. if you watch blueray on a 50" screen
sky and freeview only transmit in 720

I think all the 37 inch Panasonic's are LCD's. Is this what you are after? Because Panasonic have chosen to give all their displays the same name system, the size followed by... Z1, V10, G10, S10, X10, C10 irrespective of whether they are plasma or LCD. As far as I can make out, apart from one model of the X10, the 37's are LCD's.

If it's a plasma you want, I've had a 42 inch S10 plasma for a few weeks and have no problems with the colours. It looks amazing. Reviews state a mild red push and inaccuracy in the greens or blues. I can't tell the green/blue problem and the red push is very slight. The general variations of the accuracy in colour of the actual content you watch is far far bigger and unavoidable for any TV.

Panasonic do have a 37" plasma (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=57&url=http://www.johnlewis.com/230563560/Product.aspx).

Would also go with the 720p X10 for a 37" screen.
