What XBox 360 Games for a 5 year old... ?

Hey folks,

Looking for suggestions for XBox 360 Games for a 5 year old.

Mummy has decided that LEGO Batman and Indy are not suitable after the wee man's behaviour while playing them. :eek: Although 2 of them are for 7 year olds, the first Indy Game is only a certificate U. It's still been classed unsuitable by Mummy for the fighting in it. :D

Am thinking things like Disney stuff or other Games from Movies, that sort of thing, but am open to suggestions.

Recently discovered Feeding Frenzy on a Live Arcade disc I had lying around and my 4 year old loves it.. :D

Mind you it has fish eating other fish so his Mum might ban him from that as well.. :nuts:

Yeah his gaming is limited to an hour or two every other day so plenty of time for school and learning important stuff. :)

Lego Star Wars? hahahaha, sorry. My kids all loved the lego games from 4ish, so personally I would say very suitable....But if you OH does not agree, maybe not.

Pinata is good, but a little tricky sometimes for little uns. You need to play along with them and read the screen etc. party Animals (party game) is a bit easier for them tho, and fun.

XBLA has lots of options. Feeding Frenzy, Trials HD (easy tracks!), and lots of others. Some tho have shooting or other comic violence - My kids also like worms, turtles in time, Mutant Storm Empire, Castle Crashers, Sposion Man, Assault Heroes, The Maw (oh yes, they loved the Maw!), peggle, mr driller, flock, boogie bunnies,

Driving games maybe - Burnout Paradise, Pure all loved by the little uns in our house.

Far too many of them would be way too violent lol, Castle Crashers for example is a 16+ game!

Grab yourself some points, buy the wee man Gripshift (800 pts) and make mum happy

If you are feeling flush there's an expansion pack (350 pts) that includes.. penguin bowling!

depends on the kids tho. mine played castle crashers at 5, no probs. It's no more violent than tom and jerry IMHO. but as ever, only you can decide whats appropriate for your kids. But if OP's OH found lego Indy too violent, this one will not be suitable, yes.....

plus that 16 rating is a mickey mouse PEGI rating, which means next to nothing. I would not let them play Halo 3, for instance, (15 BBFC).

Far too many games have some form of violence in them. Surprised the Lego games are deemed too much. I'd have recommended Kung Fu Panda otherwise, which is a very fun movie tie-in and is going cheap at Play (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=340&url=http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/5116351/Kung-Fu-Panda/Product.html)

Beautiful Katamari is a nice little game too, very colourful and shouldn't be too tough for him to learn.

Rich, would need to buy him Points as the 360 is in his room. I would need to connect it up to the Network to get the Marketplace stuff, but would the 360 need to be connected when he plays it, or can you play XBox Live Arcade Games without the need to be connected... ?

that will work fine. buy points, buy game on the network, and then move to his room. sorted. works offline fine on the machine purchased on.

lego star wars games, and check out alot of the live arcade demos, saves a good few quid !

lego indy and batman is fine, if you let him see guns even in a cartoon form

Sounds like the only thing your kid can play is Peggle, great game and it is more or less just a ball dropping and hitting things, hopefully that's not too violent :D

I'm honestly having trouble here thinking of other games that would be deemed suitable for your lad if the missus finds the lego games unacceptable! What about a racind game like Burnout Revenge or Burnout Paradise ?

Well so far we have Cars, Pinata, Up, (maybe) Spongebob and a few Arcade Games so not a complete washout. ;)

Burnout Paradise is a possibility as i would play it myself as well. :thumbs:

There seems to be a trick that if you buy a game (i.e. on your profile) on somebody elses xbox (i.e. your sons) then that game will be available to anyone else (again - your son!) because that's the console it was first d/l on and a license is included

You can then take your profile back to your usual xbox and redownload the game (as the purchase was made with your profile)

His console wouldn't have to be connected to live to play the game, but (for that game alone) yours would

Banjo And Kazooie Nuts And Bolts

To be honest they both prefer the DS but will have a play once in a while, there's loads of demos on the marketplace for all the disney games but most of them are pretty bad, stuff like the forza 3 demo is good as well, stick on the auto assists and they love it. Kung Fu Panda is not bad for a kiddie game but if the lego games are a no go I can't see it being any better for you.
