E4HD http://www.e4.com/e4hd.html - Same as channel 4 HD - don't need the £10 a month sub - just a SKYHD box and working card. Channel 215
And MGMHD which is currently available in the US - although they can't confirm when!
And Sky News HD is coming in the spring apparently.

...and for anybody that hasn't noticed, there is Sky Christmas HD showing a load of films which customers have apparently voted for

Good news.
E4HD launches on 14th December on channel 215
Bad news.
You need the HD subscription to receive it... major major fail.

Was Friends made in HD then?

really bad news is that Channel 4 doesn't support the fact they should turn on the subtitles for Ch4HD and E4HD

It was shot on film. It is soon to be released on bluray.

I think he was being sarcastic - as that is all E4 seem to show ;)
To be honest, don't actually watch E4 ever... just annoyed that it is a free to air channel in SD we are now being charged £10 a month to watch the few things in HD on there!

On a separate note, wasn't there supposed to be a MGM HD Film channel on Sky?

Yes as mentioned in the first post.
Regarding E4 I never watch the channel either but it is odd that it is going to be part of the pay HD channels. But Eurosport is another oddity, I don't subscribe to the news mix so can view their channels but can get EurosportHD, is this because it is part of the Sports HD channels ?

:suspect:
Ah Ok just read the link does say you need the HD pack. Agree this is daft the terrestrial broadcasters shouldn't be part of a subscription package.
I would have thought Film4 would have been the better one for Channel 4 to do in HD but as I don't really watch much of either it doesn't make much difference.

I think you get Eurosport HD if you take the Entertainment HD pack (£10) even if you don't take the News pack.

OK - MGMHD launches tonight on channel 345
If you don't have the Movies/HD package - you can pay £5 a month to receive MGMHD as a single channel which I think is great.

Thanks for the heads up, I wonder if they will be showing the James Bonds, Sky haven't shown them in a while, that might explain it.
Cheers, is it films without the adverts on this one ?
No adverts apparantly , they are inbetween but not during the films ..
a heads up for tomorrow afternoon , they are showing the Vincent Price tour de force " Theater of Blood " one of my fave tongue in cheek horrors ....already set my Sky+hd to record

Assume original aspect ratio as well... always sceptical about US HD channels...

Not sure what combination of movies you need, but we have Movies 1 and the HD pack and this channel is encrypted :(
It is showing fine for me and I have the full movie HD pack.

What was posted on Twitter from @SKYHD
You'll get MGM HD if you subscribe to all the Sky Movies channels in HD, but you can also get it as a standalone channel for £5 a month.

So it must be classed as a "bonus" channel when you subscribe to both Sky movie packs (1 & 2) like Disney Cinemagic HD.
EDIT: Posted this from my phone last night and didn't see the post above

I know this is a little off topic, but we just had sky hd installed yesterday and i noticed a usb socket on the back of the box. is this for a flash drive or an external drive or maybe a way of backing up recording (which i very much doubt) or is it for your friendly neighbourhood sky man to update firmware?
Dunno what it's for, it's not used for anything (as yet). You can charge usb things from it and that's about it.

MGMHD is excellent! UHF in HD! It's like the channel of the gods or something!
Yeah, I'm liking it too. Managed to grab Theater of Blood later on in the day as well. Watched a few minutes and the PQ is very good, nice reds. :D

Yeah, been impressed so far, watched Eye of the Neddle the other night, looked good, although I wish Sky would fix that bloddy blue line that runs up the side of the screen.
I don't get that, what's that all about? Just that channel?
The DOG is a turd on the landscape but that's all so far.

Hopefully we are going to get Sky Sports HD4 in the new year. Sports Xtra becomes Sports 4 on January 6th so HD4 should follow.

Just to revive this thread - MGMHD has surely got to be the HD channel I'm getting the most value out of - I'm seriously considering getting rid of the other HD movie channels.
Where else could I watch A Midnight Clear, and then a Fred Williamson film, and then Harry in Your Pocket, and then Cutter's Way? And then The Taking of Beverley Hills? It's like they MADE the channel for me. It's stupendously good value for money.
Might as well post this in here that the Classic Movie channel is going HD later in the summer apparently.

More ******* cost - **** off Sky!
Totally got money's worth with the football and Wimbledon.
It would feel odd without it.

Football and wimbledon were on terrestrial surely? If you were being sarky, I'll give myself a slap already.
I recently contemplated getting rid of Sky totally, as I'm the only one who watches it, and er indoors couldn't give a toss, but still can justify the cost, just for the sport, but the fact they keep launching minimal channels like these, and then charging again, winds me up.
Yes, it was, but as I've forked out for sky hd I'll tell myself it was worth it. How many people do you reckon watched on freeview HD?
