The re-issue of Con Air (R2) is blantantly cut in several places - yet the BBFC web site says it has been passed uncut. As its already an 18 I cant see why it would be pre-cut by the distributor. Anyone know what the score is?
Also the actual cuts are very amatuerish and noticeable - air line version perhaps?

I watched the R2 version and noticed scenes that weren't in the VHS version I saw many years ago. Can you point any particular scene?

Apart from the infamous, "Ooooh men in uniform scene" that was lost in the transition from cinema to video. The VHS is the same as the DVD.
The UK version lost a few seconds of blood spurting out of the back of someones head during the have-a-go DEA scene. But apart from that...

Cant give any specific examples its just that when various people are shot the reaction shot cuts away very quickly before the effect of the bullet is seen and the violence seems very toned down especially as its an 18.
It looks like it has been done over by the ITV censors!
If its not cut then whoever the editor was should look for a new career!

I got this and Face/Off R4 a couple of weeks ago for a very tidy sum from EzyDVD..both uncut.
... except of course, if the R2 is cut then chances are so is the R4 - given that the R4 is R2 coded as well, and both have very similar running times (R4 is 110:37 according to MichaelDVD, R2 is 110:33 according to the BBFC - presumably 4s cuts won't be too blatant).
Unless of course BV decided to slip through a cut version on DVD without telling the BBFC first....

I don't think the R4 is cut.. Face/Off definitely isn't.
Then again I haven't seen it since the cinema and one scene looked suspicious, on the plane..hmmmm
