Just noticed that buy.com have taken out almost 20 quid randomly from my account today. The last time I ordered from them was in January and this was paid for (and appears on my statement).

After a little bit of hassle (12 hour response time... right..!!) I eventually got in contact with someone and was told that this was for something I ordered in JULY last year..!! Apparently there was a problem with their system and the amount never got taken out. They also mentioned that they had had various problems at this time so it might well happen to others out there.

They said something along the lines of "oh, didn't you get an email about it?" Certainly not..!!!

Now I have no idea whether they originally took this amount or not, but I'm certainly getting onto trading standards as soon as I can. (Left messages today - will try again tomorrow). There must be something against this. It will definitely cost me getting back-statements to check this out and there's no way I am going to end up paying for this..!!!

Anyway, if you've used buy.com before, watch your statements in case.

Anyone else noticed buy.com stealing from them? I've had loads of problems with them before (although none quite like this)..!!

John

Yeah that's well off, it will be interesting to see if they did take the money originally or not though?

Why don't you keep your previous statements?

Semprini,if you contact your card company they can probably get old statements sent out to you.

The main problem is that I paid with my debit card, after a problem I had experienced with buy.com before when using my credit card. Unfortunately, Lloyds are almost completely random about whether they sent me statements at all (and it is even more unlikely that I would be organised enough to find a backdated one should I need it.) I did call the bank and they said they can find out whether the amount was taken out before without charge.

Buy may well be right in that they didn't take the money out (although at the moment I have no idea) but I am still pretty annoyed that they could try to charge me now for something I bought almost 8 months ago. I can't believe they can take the money out now and not even think of telling me about it.

And they did seem to imply that I was not alone and that due to a problem their end they would be doing the same to various others as well.

I'm trying to contact Trading Standards but I keep getting their answerphone and they won't call me back. Doh..!

Another thing that annoyed me is that I emailed them about this and they completely ignored me. I then phoned the freephone number and was told that only the credit division could help me. They refused to transfer me and said they couldn't give out their phone number so I had to fax them. (!??) They then ignored my fax and it was only when my girlfriend chased them up by phone that she managed to get an answer out of them (from someone who was apparently pretty rude about it.)

The same thing has happened to me this week. I was charged for something I bought over 5 months ago from them and £20 too much has been taken as well. I rang and complained and got told to fax a statement to the credit department with a note explaining the problem so I did and I still haven't had a reply from them about it

Because the amount taken was too much it made me overdrawn :( It also would have been nice to have had an email about it instead of just randomly taking the money after such a long amount of time.
