I was thinking about upgrading my cheap Sony CD player to the Arcam CD72 because of the iminent arrival of my Denon 2802 reciever..... I have a thought however, why not try my 717 DVD player as my CD player for the time being to save on money and space. My question is:

Is the Pioneer 717 up to the task as a short(ish) term solution?

Cheers

I should think so. I use my 717 as a cd player, sound quality is
A1.
If you have a decent set of speakers too.

Yeap, no reason why not, it wasn`t a bad player for audio cd in its day.

I have a Pioneer DV 717 and Denon AVR 2802 and would not bother use anything else as a CD player. The quality is excellent, at least to my ears and everyone else who comes round :)

It's not a bad sound for a dvd player, but it's not as good as a dedicated cd player.
