View Full Version : Post Office Rumour Mongering?

I'm missing a couple of discs from Play.com at the moment so I popped down to my local sorting office on the off chance that they had them and I'd missed the delivery somehow. It's on my way so no trouble.

Anyway, they didn't have them but told me that they had had many complaints about what they termed 'internet companies' sending out dispatch confirmations to customers before actually dispatching the goods with up to a three-week gap before the parcels actually make it to the local sorting office.

They then turned to point at a massive pile of Amazon parcels in the office, which they claimed were backdated to the start of February that had only just arrived. I've certainly missed one Amazon parcel this month other than the disks missing from Play but three other Amazon orders have arrived in double quick time including the replacement for the missing delivery and, somewhat suspiciously, one delivered by a courier to my door at 8pm!

Now this may be specific to my local office in Finchley but does this story tally up with anyone else here? Had any parcels gone astray? Or is this an attempt by the PO to pass the blame?

It's possible I suppose, but more likely it is an attempt by the PO to pass the buck.

I've ordered from Amazon about 40 times over the years, and have never had anything delayed by more than a few days after the despatch email.

We have had "a few" packages go missing.

Most companies have a book that gets signed at the time of mailing, ie if the book says 150 packages, they count 150 packages and stamp the book, otherwise the mail does not go.

Sounds like RM passing the book, i have been told by RM customer service that 10 million packages are sent a week, 1 million do not get to there destinations!

A mate of mine used tto work for RM, he said if a parcel was small, say an Amazon CD one, then it could sit for days if not weeks while the parcel people said "that's a letter" and the letter people said "that's a parcel"

So in all, would guess that the professoinalism of RM is likely to be the first thing to question, no disrespect to the posties on here like :)
