Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Concert Venue - anyone been?

Will be going to a gig at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona later this month. Anyone been there? If so, what's it like? Far from the City centre and how do you get there?

It's not far at all from the centre but it's a fair hike as it's up on Montjuic.
You can take a cable car from the port at the bottom of Las Ramblas which will take you up the hill. There are also loads of busses that will take you there from the centre.

I'm not sure what time the cable cars run until.
The bus would be your best bet. I know that they run quite late and all the tourist ones stop very close to the Palau Saint Jordi - which is right next to the Olympic Stadium. Nice area to walk around and do a bit of sightseeing. The cable car drop off is about a 20 minute walk away. There's a cafe next to it with a lovely view over the city. The walk to the venue takes you past the Olympic diving pool which might be of interest.
