Hi

Thought we could have a weekly time trial thread in which we choose a track and a car then see who can get the best time.

So I'll start it then the winner each week can choose the track and the runner up the car.

For the first week i thought it would be safer to start with a track most people will be familiar with and a reasonable car rather than something more exotic (Uncontrollable :thumbs:)

So Laguna seca in a Sport Clio V6 RS (Stock, No upgrades allowed!!). Closing time 7pm Friday the 30th of October.

Any suggestions on how this should be run are welcome.

This sounds ace..gutted I cant get it until Friday evening!

Do we need to take a pic of our best time? or is there a friends leaderboard to prove what we do?

A good way of doing this would be to do it by car class or pick a car right at the top of the class (even if it is a low class) so that you wouldn't be able to upgrade it without it moving up a class. Another way would be to pick a specific time trial ghost car to race against. You would be able to check the in-game leaderboards for these I assume. Still not that familiar with the game so I'm not 100% sure if this is possible.

I take it that only clean laps count?

I may be missing something here, but wheres the time trial menu or is it done using the hot lap option?

Not sure. Should we allow unclean laps?

It is done through the free play option (i think).

I'm sure we can find a better way of verifying rather than pictures.

Your fastest lap is automatically recorded in the leaderboard.

However, I'm sure we can all be trusted to post true lap times. It's only a bit of fun after all. And if somebody is suspected of cheating its easy enough to look at the leaderboards to see if the time is genuine.

Quite difficult to police i would have thought.

I'd prefer ABS and auto as the only assists but i'd also rather it was accessible to everyone.

Driving aids slow you down. The quickest times are always using a manual box & driver aids off.

Just set a 1:47:887 (25th out of 366).

EDIT 1:45:531. I can still shave more time off this though.

You can look at leaderboards for car classes.

If you set up a hot lap with the Clio at Laguna seca, then look at the leaderboard. It gives you the leaderboard for that class of car. The fastest time for this clio at the moment is 1:41:028 :eek:

You are 15th in the world and i am 17th.

Notice your lap is all assists bar the auto brake. If you turn off tcs and stability and i reckon you'd get into the top 10.

Just trimmed a couple of tenths off. I've removed the assists but i'm sliding too much atm so not really getting the benefits. A bit more practice though and i reckon i could get in the 43's.

Just did a 1:44.639, but that was with auto gears and a joypad. Should be able to knock a bit off when I go back to manual gears and my wheel... :)

^ i agree with thz, although i'm probably not as fast with the wheel, manual gears should make a difference.

It is for me at least :lol: but I know many people who can do manual gears with a pad without any problems.

probably not, i've never really tried it though, was playing with no sound last night which does make it difficult to change gears.

free play, then hot lap. You don't have to buy a clio :D

I want to tune my car is this allowed? Idont want to buy upgrades just change settings?

although when i do try and do this most things are faded out apart from the PSI?

its not problem with pad, i use pad and manaul gears, second nature to me after forza 2

Game doesnt allow it.

Im sure you have to upgrade you car to be able to tune it.

I wanted to do the same but nothing is adjustable apart from PSI on the clio.

Saying that I did upgrade a car and still could tune it!

I dont think we should allow upgrades or tuning. It's a pure time competition not a who's spent the most time plucking their springs :thumbs:

I also am starting to think for the next one we should all have the same assists to keep it 100% about driving ability.

REALLY bad idea IMO. Assists don't make good drivers faster. Forcing assists off would put slower drivers off and forcing assists on would put faster drivers off.

sorry i was waiting for the thread poster to say who had won etc, as i thought leaderboards were being used, not just this thread. If i won?? then i will choose Tsukuba (full)
