My son had his phone stolen at school yesterday. We rang orange to get it locked/blocked I know it takes the phone out of action , no calls but can the other functions of the phone still be used? it was a Samsung tocco. Also I presume anything on the memory card can be accessed and would be unaffected by the block?

The contents of the handset will still be visable, sms, mms, photo's, email etc. Some handsets do have a remote lock feature, but you need to pre-activate it and send the command to lock once you realise its missing.

Orange would have added the Handset IMEI to the IMEI blacklist database, which should render it useless in the UK for making \ receiving calls and sending text messages with the thiefs sim card.
