I know it is a long shot, but does anyone have any pics of the Interior of the menin gate, In particular the names inscribed on panel 11 of the Memorial.

Just found out that it has the name of my Great great Great uncle on it, and would love to locate a photo.

If anyone can help would appreciate it.

Do you know the regiment - there are so many names on there that they're often grouped by regiment.

What rank did he hold? There's a Pte J Barton on the lower right in this one:

Edit: Maybe not, that looks to be the 1st Battalion Canadian Infantry (http://www.flickr.com/photos/29733969@N05/3921205308/). I never realised just how many names there are on there

Lots more on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=menin&w=all). Photos tagged with Menin Gate (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/meningate/).

Is there anyway of identifying the panel no? I have some photos I took somewhere and I'll have a look through for you.

Edit: I've had a look through and I don't have one that has the 1st Battalion Scots on it, sorry.

If you get the opportunity to go to Ypres and see the Menin Gate then go. It really is a very emotional thing - thousand upon thousands of names and those are just the ones that they found no trace of :( There's also a very good museum and the Cathedral is spectacular.

You might do better posting on The Great War Forum (http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/). I've found that my great uncle died in WW1 and has no commenoration despite me now having his medals, death penny and scroll. Still idly working out how best to address this.
