Just had an email from Flickr saying that one of my photos has been added to a gallery set up by someone else !
Is this taking the **** or what ???
So now my photos are being used, without permission, in someone elses gallery.
Off to unsubscribe from this new feature :(

Is it different from adding them to a group (in reverse, of course, since they add you to their gallery)? My point being that all credit is still yours and that the photo still links to your stream?
I haven't really read up on them yet. But I'm just wondering whether I'd like the exposure, assuming it's still clearly my picture, more than I'd be bothered by someone assembling pictures they like but didn't take into a collection.
Although, thinking aobut it, the lack of a permission being given before it appears does bother me. I want to choose where my image appear too.

But the galleries are just used on the flickr site aren't they?
It's just another flickr social networking tool. People can create galleries and they add other peoples photos to them, but the photos permissions don't change and it all still links to your flickr page for that photo. It's a bit like people can create their own group pools.
Or put it another way: if someone 'favourites' your photo, do you ask them to 'unfavourite' it, as a user's favourite page is just another gallery really.
I actually think it's a pretty neat idea in theory. You can create galleries of your favourite photos of other people and share them...

Not really looked into it yet, but I just see it as people sort of organising their favourites into different sets.
I also think it's just limited to on eset of 16 photos and one batch.

It's like favourites except you can organise them and tell people why you like the photos. I don't think it's anything to get worried about, it's just internal to flickr.
I've started one for pictures of people holding wild birds/little animals:

purely because I like seeing those kinds of shots, not because they are excellent photographically (some are pretty cool though I think). The response has been very positive. I've had one photo added to a gallery, which was quite nice!

Yeah, I had a photo that suddenly got a lot of hits. Eventually it transpired it was because it happened to have a male dancer wearing tights in the frame. (Not, as I imagined, because it was a fine shot of Kylie)
