Looking pretty good to me. Sure I spotted Lancelot in one of the clips.
Hands up those who were waiting for Cedric to say...
"Merlin, I am your father" :)

"Who put my wand in jelly?" was top of my predictions. Shame he was contained to one episode as these shows are better with a visible thread.

I play a little game when watching it, guessing at which points Richard Wilson would say "I don't believe it".
Looks like the show hasn't managed to get any better... more of the same.
Oh dear.
To make this neater I've split the old thread into two.
i liked how merlin managed to look at the floor, say a spell and lift a shield before the dart hit richard wilson.
Caught the repeat as I don't recall seeing any teaser trailers in the run up to the new series
I actually thought this was pretty decent, it started off a bit pap but quickly became as good as the better episodes in Series 1.

Wasn't too bad except the poorly executed bit with the arrow.
not too bad.
the tomb was quite creepy and the episode was quite good for a series that lacks a decent over riding story arch.
lots of swashes being buckled.....and swords sharpened..........just right for Saturday evenings.

By any chance is this repeated some time in the week..?
Didn't realise it had started again.
Last series was repeated the day after early afternoon but not sure if this was but even if it was it would be too lane by now.
Iplayer will have it for sure.

What's the point in repeating it the next day..? Should be showing it in the following week. BBC have never been good at doing that.
Might be on iPlayer but I'd rather watch it on the big screen and not my laptop. :(
Can you plug your laptop into your Pc? then you can watch it in BBCiplayer HD

No you can't as for some reason it's not in HD at all.
Or if you have Virgin tv you can access Iplayer through there and watch it on your tv with no fuss at all.
Just seen it is on BBC3 at 8pm on Friday and seems to be the only repeat

Couldn't be bothered with all the faffing about hooking up my laptop even if it was possible.
Thanks for the heads-up for the repeat. I'll make sure I it to record.
Cheers.

I thought it was rubbish, the whole Cedric fooling Arthur and ousting Merlin was just tedious and the episode could have been slotted in series 1 at any point.
I'm not expecting a superb ongoing story arc but it would be nice, I didn't mind the first series and it was ok for early Saturday viewing but I'm really in two minds whether to bother with it any more.

Really enjoyed 2nd episode, very touching in parts. Bit rushed at end, but the story progressing nicely.
good episode:
I liked the jousting, love the way Arthur is arrogant even when he tries not to be!
Quite funny in places

I missed it not being on last week - and enjoyed quite thorougly this weeks trolls episode
program doesn't take itself too seriously, a bit silly - but engrossing for some reason
PQ is excellent every week - sometimes think I'm watching a HD broadcast

Yep, not bad, I especially like the actress playing the Troll, good separation of personas. My only criticism, I think they have spread the story out too thinly with two episodes.
I know what you mean Nirvana.
This weeks was a little different as Merlin was ready to leave Arthur and Camalot to be with a nice big black pussy cat. For once he forgot his ' I must protect Arthur' bit........which was refreshing
I did shed a slight tear and thought Merlins acting was quite good.

Agree. When he struggled to say the spell to set the boat on fire I thought his acting was excellent.
I hope they have some sort of big arch involved and by the end of this series we will see more people know Merlins secret and perhaps magic viewed in a different way.
The chemistry between the 4 young leads is really good (especially Merlin and Aurthur) and i do think it would be good just to have the 4 of them on some sort of road trip away from Camalot for a change.
Thought last nights episode was really quite enjoyable, infact quite a few this year have, even if it does retread themes, hell practically entire plots several times over. :D Looking forward to next weeks finale.
Series 3 has already been given the go ahead now as well.

Enjoying this also although Arthur does seem to lose a lot of his knights every episode - must be a ready source of replacements. My kids most intrigued by Lady Morgana character - is she good / evil / being manipulated etc.

What's interesting is that good/evil or right/wrong is subjective.

Really enjoyed this series and glad there will be another, although not very popular on here judging by the amount of replies on the thread!

I've loved this series, thought it's been great saturday night telly. Personally, i prefer Merlin to Dr Who, which i find very hit and miss. Even the average Merlin episodes are a good watch.
This series seems to have a huge amount of potential, but can't help but feel is being held back abit by resetting back to the status quo at the end of every episode. I'd hoped that by the end of this season someone (preferably Arthur) would have found out about Merlins magical abilities. It's getting abit daft at times with the whole 'o, everyones looking away now, time for some magic' or 'look, everyones fell asleep, i'll do some magic' etc etc.
Still, roll on season 3
I thought they would have killed Uther off at the end of the first series and definitely by the end of this. As they didn't I hoped that Arthur would see Merlin deal with the dragon and agree to keep his secret as he'd saved Camelot. Ho hum. I expect it will follow the same formula next series and hope that Arthur becomes King by the end of it. A nice surprise would be that he becomes King in the first episode.
On the positive side, I think it's good Saturday night TV and a lot better than the turgid Robin Hood. The dragon effects in this episode were really well done and I enjoy most of the main cast too.
Good episode.......like the dragon lord concept.........but oh dear!
Back to the status quo........Merlin didn't tell Arthur about his father and his dragon whispering but instead credited the Prince with the 'kill'.
I think the writers are frightened they might write themselves into a corner so they just keep resetting the character relationships at the end of each episode.

I was a bit disappointed that Arthur didn't witness Merlin send the dragon away :(
Maybe they're waiting for Morgana to go completely evil and for her to face off against Merlin so that Uther can witness not all magic users are evil... or perhaps despite that Uther will be after Merlin's head and Arthur will fight his corner... :D
I enjoyed this series a lot, but I agree it needs a 'coming of shadows' type game changing episode to avoid becoming stilted. Suprised Arthur doesn't get brain damage the amount of times he seems to get knocked out when Merlin needs to do some magic.
Be good if they actually gave Morgana something to do as well rather than moping about the place. Hopefully that will be fixed next series as well.
Yep it's been good up to now but I don't think a 3rd series of maintaining the status quo will work. I would like someone else to know Merlin's powers, preferably Arthur and it's a shame the 2nd series didn't end with him finding out at the end without Merlin knowing (seeing it but then keeping it to himself).
Really like it but agree with everything already said. I heard they had 5 series planned so I assume they didn't want to reveal Merlin's powers too soon. Series 3 should be the time to start though.

Have enjoyed most episodes, in my opinion, ‘Merlin’ reminds me of ‘Smallville’. When dealing with such iconic matter, there is only a limited amount of material.
I agree, as a viewer it is so frustrating when you know the history, and there seems to be no story progression. But, as a producer, I would be spreading that storyline so thin, it would be transparent.

I've enjoyed this series a lot too. I've really warmed to the characters where they were all a bit annoying in S1. There has been a nice mix of action, comedy and beasties but I agree that it's time that Arthur is let in on Merlin's abilities - the dragon would have been the perfect opportunity to do that and would have stirred up some excitement for the next series. But what do I know?

Just confirm one thing to me, has it not been the case that the Dragon has been going on about Merlin's destiny and that Arthur must be saved at all costs ?
And then in the last episode the Dragon is all out to kill Arthur ? Eh ?
The dragon has always been a bit suspect on that one, and indeed most of the advice he gives out. I got the sense as the series went on that he thought Arthur was his best bet at getting released - he was always very angry when Merlin saved Uther.
I assume the dragon was just manipulating Merlin to the point where he would have to keep his promise to release the dragon.
