Problem with V+ Box

I have a Telewest TVDrive (now called V+) connected to an HD TV.

The HDMI port has been misbehaving for a while but with a little bit of fiddling I could get it to work, until tonight. It has truly given up the ghost. The actual cable is fine, it works with a PS3.

I will get Vigin to replace the box but in the mean time I can connect the V+ box to the TV using component or even SCART, except that I can't see the menus to switch from HDMI to an other option.

Does anyone know how I switch the output of a Virgin V+ box without using the on screen menus?

I'm assuming it has the the same layout & menus and an actual branded V+ Box. If so...

Turn on the V+ Box
Press Menu
Press 8
Press 4
Press Down
Press Right once for HDMI Component
OR
Left twice for Widescreen composite.
Press OK twice (but leave a bit of a gap between the presses)

The second press will test the settings you've just changed. You should see the screen become visible now.

Hit reset and hold down Play and Stop on the front of the box, after about a minute the display changes to OUTPT or something. FFWD cycles through HDMI, SD and component.
