Looks like I could be in line to get about £6K which I wasn't expecting. I can "afford" to lock it away for 2 years so was thinking about some sort of fixed rate bond.
My ISA will be maxed again next year (aside from this amount) so that's a none starter. Anyone have any suggestions of good deals out there or something other than a bond?

See, I was tempted to invest in beer but you may be onto something there.
I'd look into pork belly.
Pork belly prices have been dropping all morning, which means that everybody is waiting for it to hit rock bottom, so they can buy low. Which means that the people who own the pork belly contracts are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now.
I can feel it.

As stock market is picking up - I would invest £3K in an investment that doesn't need to be touched and pays a guaranteed amount, and the other £3K in shares (£1.5K in a ftse 100 / large cap and £1.5K in a smaller company that could get high returns)

as you need it for 2 years time, i'd just go for a bond, maybe 1k in prem bonds if you want the risk/excitement.

Already got some premium bonds, but might throw a bit that way again. Quite like the idea of bonds, fixed term % bond and maybe some stock market play. Mix it around a bit.
It's that or penny chews.
