My setup:

Kiiro 838d DVD player
Sherwood AV 925 RDS Amp
Connected via Coaxial cable and scart.

Question 1 :

I have 5 speakers connected to the amp. The DVD is connected to the AV amp via Coaxial cable. The DVD setup is correct i think and all speakers enabled in digital mode.

When i play DVD films in pro logic mode all 5 speakers work fine but when i switch to digital AC-3 mode (av isnt DTS) the front speaker dont work - just the fronts and backs. I had a pioneer DVD and a cheapo Asda DVD and had this same problem so i dont think it is a problem with the Kiiro DVD.

Any ideas..???

Question 2 :

Whats the difference between DTS and AC-3..???

Question 3 :

Is a connection via Optical better than Coaxial ..?

Regards...

1. Are you using a DVD that definately has a DD 5.1 track on it?

2. DTS is a rival sound format to AC3/Dolby Digital that has higher specifications that DD - I believe it sounds better than DD but others can't tell the difference.

3. Apparently Co-ax connections are marginally superior to Optical so I went for this connection

When you say you aren't getting sound from the front speaker, do you mean the centre speaker?
If this is the case, then you may have the centre speaker mode on your amp set to PHANTOM mode, in this mode the amp sends the centre channel to the front stereo speakers.

Hope this helps.
