I've got two and a half grand burning a hole in my pocket!

I am looking for an amp and speakers to play music and act as a home cinema system.

I have been looking at some of the Denon AVC series amps but can't make my mind up. I haven't really looked into the speakers yet.

Your wisdom would be greatly appreciated guys.

Cheers!

It depends on what you want.

Straight DD/DTS with 5 speakers and a sub?

DTS/DD 7.1 ?

Movies AND music or just movies?

For me I'd go for a Rotel RSX-972 (£900 ish).

Its only 5 channel - does DD/DTS but has quality for music as well as movies

As for speakers this leaves you £1600.

You could have something like this

Other systems like Mission 780 series ( 782,78c,780 plus soem subwoffer).

B&W etc are other choices - you have to go and listen to LOTS of different packages - also losten to cheaper kit and some VERRY expensive kit - gives you a frame of reference.

Also take into account your room size/shape.

Big speakers in a small room just dont work and vice versa.

If you're that unsure can I suggest you contact www.hifistore.co.uk. My site uses them all the time for stuff and Gary has never steered one of us wrong yet. You come up with the budget and he'll work something good out for you.

Don't think I'm allowed to name the site, as you could have used it as a reference - Mods?
