So with a few companies announcing their plans to release 3d TV's next year, just wondering if it had made anyone think to hold off a purchase? I guess the first models that come out will be silly money and not very good..... but would be cranking to spend a grand now and then want to upgrade in just a years time!

There's technology in the development stage will allow 3D TV without glasses, so unless you're talking about waiting for that I wouldn't bother waiting. Although there's a kink that needs to be ironed out, it makes some people sea sick.

I hope they don't make everything 3D. Well I don't want one anyway, but still...

People go mad about colour timing on DVDs, how they're going to feel when their favourite films are popping off the screen is anyone's guess.

Zero interest here. Can't see the point. (no pun intended) For some computer apps or video games, perhaps, but not if you have to wear glasses to see the effect.

I've seen coraline 3D and I'm sold.

Just not at home, not for a long time.

Cinema films are slightly different, but its still all a little gimmicky for my liking.

For the home, its this decade's virtual reality, I think. We keep being told it'll be here in a year or so, but it'll never quite come to fruition - and once the studios realise it severly impacts on a films shelf life and resell ability, it'll quietly get dropped in favour of something else.

yeah good points - probably agree having thought about it a bit more.

I think its still gimmicky, altho for newly shot features I think they shy away from poking things out the screen like they did in jaws 3, F13th3 etc.

If they just make the movies as normal, and you have the option to turn the 3d on or off then it may catch on. Ive never ever seen a 3d porno so wont totally write it off just yet.:D

I think it is crap. It was crap in the 80's and is crap now. We watched Coraline in 3D and it was cack.

I reckon a decent 3D screen (no glasses) is still a good 5 years away from being a) decent quality & b) reasonably priced.

And if it works on everything then it's solely aimed at people who want the director's vision compromised.

Big time.
