After seeing the CoD: MW2 Prestige edition, i was wondering if there are any other cool collector editions on the horizon coming out for the some of the more decent games :>

I notice the preorders in Game are generally just a different coloured ingame gun or something which doesnt appeal as much as nightvision goggles :D

The ones i've had have been rubbish for the most part. I had the tin Gears of War and a Fallout 3 with a metal paladin. Boring.

I won't part with my GTA4 box set, my life size Halo Helmet Halo 3, or my Oblivion Collectors Edition (with the gold coin, map and mini-history novel). They're totally stupid but I don't care :dork:

Not a game but the forthcoming Spinal Tap Bluray comes with a real, working mini-Marshall Amp that goes up to 11. Making it the *best thing ever*

Don't think much of Collector's Editions. They are usually not worth paying extra for. I think what put me off them was Halo 3 and it's stupid packaging that couldn't hold the disks properly so they arrived scratched to hell. Don't think I've bothered with one since.

I like the tins that Gears of War comes in so may continue with those, but rarely get the oversized ones with helmets and ghillie suits.

My drunken side got the better of me and I bought the Batman set. It finally convinced me why these things aren't worth it and given I sell on a lot of the games I buy, it doesn't make it easy or cheap to post either.

The demon's souls deluxe edition looks pretty good as the extras are actually useful. Import only though.

150 page guide, artbook, and soundtrack CD. Amazing game too.

I was looking at whats on Game and noticed Conan (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=50&url=http://www.game.co.uk/PC/RolePlaying/MassivelyMultiplayer/~r333257/Age-of-Conan-Hyborian-Adventures-Collectors-Edition/) is only £10 now!

I only get them if I see them cheap, but even them I'm wary. I got the Halo 3 Limited Edition tin (not helmet) for £36 as a pre-order but it destroyed the disc because the glue holding the disc thingy in melted and covered it.

Never bought one, never will. I hate it when the games don't fit alongside the other cases.

has there ever been a collectors edition that has held its value? they all end up in the bargain bin it seems within 12 months. Maybe in 25 years they will become collectable

Never.

I only got my Halo Helmet cos it dropped to about £25 and my Oblivion CE cost about £5.

But surely no-one gets them with the intention of them being valuable later on.
You just get them because you really like the game so want some extra crap that's been branded with it (or really want the soundtrack).

GTA IV has been the best one I've gotten and the safety deposit box is quite handy.
Batman: Arkham Asylum has been the most disappointing.

Exactly, as an investment, they are rubbish, but as something funny to have, they're great. Everyone is :dork: impressed with a life size Halo helmet.

The World of Warcraft ones go up in price - but thats more for the ingame pet. There is one on Ebay for £850

I bought the Halo one with the helmet. I didnt realise millions of the buggers had been made and the price dropped fast. Its still probably one of my favourites along with the Alien Quad head :>

I bought the Fallout lunchbox and the Bioshock Big Daddy one. Shouldn't have bothered. Also got the Saints Row 2 one, but only because it was the less than the regular edition.

Never bought one, never will. I hate it when the games don't fit alongside the other cases.

I dont think I have a single Collectors Edition that doesnt have a regular copy of the game inside so them not fitting in with the rest isnt a problem.

I personally love my Collectors Editions, even the Batman AA set but I do have the US edition which is alot better than the UK set but I do draw the line at stuff like the GoW2 Gold Lancer and CoD:MW2 Prestige Edition, I dont mind paying abit more for a CE but not £100+
