The N900 looks amazing....but so did the N97 when first revealed, and hands on experience of that proved another disappointment. I'm still on my N95-8GB awaiting ANY phone that I can do everything I do on my current handset. People slate the Symbian operating system, but I can't fault it (beyond struggling to unlock it so I could install unsigned applications).
I don't have a problem with Symbian either -- I have an E71 and love the flexibility I get from symbian in terms of apps I can install.
Of the current handsets I think the N86 is the only logical successor to the N95, but the N900 looks a bit special.
Nokia have had a lot of problems with their flagship phones being released "buggy" -- even the N95 was slated when it first appeared. I wonder if they've learned? They are touting the ease of upgrades through maemo, which should help, but hopefully won't encourage them to release with bugs. Mates of mine have had the N700 tablets and liked them a lot. I've actually got my hopes up for this phone. Usually a bad sign :)

Spent last night looking at the N86 - looks like it is a decent upgrade from the N95 and is available on all networks direct from the network which is a bonus. Will have to see what I get in the way of upgrade options from o2 next month.
