Are they identical in terms of extras ??
Which one are you going for ?
Cheers.
apparently, there's an 'exclusive to Region 2' feature on our one, which might tip the balance towards the R2 for me - although it's unlikely to be anything particularly exciting no doubt.
I've gone for the R2 from Play FWIW, although I believe that DVDBoxoffice are doing a pretty good price on the R1 (actually, having said that, I think they might have increased it a wee bit now).
I wonder if those people waiting for the as yet unspecified 'exclusive to R2 feature' will think it's worth the extra money over the R1 edition? Good bet it isn't.

There's a review of the R2 disc up at DVDdebate now. It seems the exclusive extra is a short (under10mins) featurette, so not much of a draw. The R1 disc is meant to feature bothe P&S & 2.35:1 Ana versions on the 1st disc, so there's a possibility that the R1 disc's transfer will have a lower bitrate than the UK's, because the UK doesn't have a P&S version on it.
I decided to go for R2 on this ocassion, because it is 2 discs, and the R1 is a flipper with film on one side and extras on the other.
Getting from play it is only £1 more for the R2 (£15.99) so there is no real extra cost to get the 2 disc version
I have no idea if the picture quality is affected by having pan & scam on it, my own feelings is that i doubt it, or that the R2 may have the same picture quality just missing out on the Pan & Scam version.
Packaging wise, the R1 has a slip case on it, whereas i think to fit in with the current MGM special range (terminator, silence of the lambs, etc) it will be a fold-out. So basically instead of a plastic slip-cover, i believe we will get a simple carboard cover.

A double sided disc (NOTE - This is NOT a flipper) Yuk!
And a double Amaray case too, double Yuk!. I much prefer these special cases
I'm definitely going for the UK R2.

Agreed. - A 'flipper' is where one half of the film is one side and the other half is on the other side of the disc. YUK !!
Agreed, wrong term there. Apologies.
*but you still have to flip it over to watch the special features :p *
...And you still have to get up to put the 2nd disk in... so what's the point here??? :brickwall
...Ah, but you may have a 5 disc DVD player...
and i was trying to be clever to get over the flipper fiasco, but it hasn't worked and brought on more issues. damn damn damn, message to self: don't post again :D
I've got a preview copy of this set and still haven't got round to seeing it....will check out this 'exclusive feature' for ya
Can anyone confirm how the artwork/packaging differs between the regions?
