I've just set up a Sony STR-DA2400ES amp, and it works a treat with the 360.

However, I can't see a way of getting the TV sound outputting through the speakers. The amp is connected to the TV via HDMI. The TV is a Samsung UE40B7020.

I can see the GUI menu on the TV when I hit the menu button on the amp, but I can't get the TV picture and the sound to play. I can only get audio through the TV speakers if I select the TV as the source through the TV itself. If I select the amp's "HDMI" as the source through the TV, it's a black screen unless I bring up the amp's GUI.

Am I missing something obvious here? Do I need some wires that I'm currently missing? If I want to just play normal TV and have the sound output through the speakers, what do I need to do? The manual isn't the clearest!

Cheers for any help :)

The hdmi will only allow a signal into the tv, to get sound out of the tv you need to use the optical out into your av amp

Is that right? I thought you could get everything that's connected to your TV via HDMI to play back through HDMI to the amp?

Many thanks, I've ordered a digital optical audio cable :)
