Hi all.

I would like help and opinions on what to buy with my very limited budget please!

I am wanting a cheap widescreen, and had pretty much decided on the BEKO (http://www.hed.co.uk/showitem.asp?CAT=50&PID=2321) set which is doing the rounds at the moment. However, one thing putting me off is the lack of outputs/inputs. The similarly priced Daewoo (http://www.daewoo-electronics.co.uk/dwj28w5.htm) has SVHS inputs and stereo outputs.

I am also wanting a new video recorder, and was going to get a SVHS deck. Can this be connected via Scart and take full advantage of its abilities? Or does SVHS really only 'work' through its own input. As you can see, I am pretty clueless about this, so would appreciate comments.

Thanks,
Jason.

No offence but those tele's look like ****.

I would buy the best TV you can afford now and worry about the video later on.

To answer your question, most telly's will accept an S-video signal through a Scart socket.

A Scart cable will happily carry composite, S-video and RGB if its fully wired (as well as stereo audio). However, you need to confirm that one of the scart sockets on the TV will accept an S-video signal. Nearly all tellys do, so I'd imagine you'd be safe, but you should double check just to make sure.

Maybe someone here who owns one can confirm?

I know they look a bit crap, but it is only to last me for about a year, so I don't want to spend a lot.
Thanks John, that was just what I wanted to know.

Cheers for replying guys.
Jason.
