I'm trying to buy a new LCD TV, i'm looking at 37"- 40", pref being a 40" and found the Samsung LE40B530 50hz at £499. I will be using it mainly for my Xbox 360 and have been told that i should get a 100hz TV gaming.

To get 100hz this is going to cost around £150-200 more, so is it worth it?

Edit: The more i read the more i see people complain that 100hz leaves a mess on the screen when gaming and that they turn it off, can anyone confirm this?

If you're talking about Samsung's "motion plus", then I turn it off. I had no problem with it for gaming, but it made the TV picture look too unnatural. Didn't notice the difference when I turned it off for gaming either.

Don't confuse this with the 100Hz refresh rate - this is definitely worth going for over a TV with a 50Hz refresh rate, as it is a lot easier on the eye. There are TVs out there with 200Hz refresh rate but I don't think the human eye can distinguish this over 100Hz and is more like a gimmick. Some people can't even distinguish the difference of 100Hz over 50Hz although I definitely can. Then again, I can also see phosphor trails, etc on plasma TVs. I think I may have bionic eyes or something.
