I'm about to take the plunge and invest in this box as I recently cancelled my Sky+ subscription, but there's a few questions I need to ask.

I understand that you can't get ITV-HD except in London, how do you get it on this box if you live in the North?

Also can additional channels be picked up that don't appear on the EPG, eg, FiveUS, Fiver etc?

Many thanks.

You won't be able to pick up FiveUS, Fiver etc. because while they are freeview channels, on satellite they're not free to air channels, and as a result are currently encrypted. That may change in the future.

You can add channels that don't come with the standard freesat setup. You won't get listings, but you do get the channels. They're mostly rubbish, but there are a few good ones. After adding them all and deleting the trash I ended up with about 15-20 additional channels. If you're a Liverpool fan for instance, their channel is a freebie that can be added.

As for ITV HD, it doesn't have a channel as such, but if ITV1 content is available in HD (i.e. The Bill, some football, some films), then you can press the red button and get them in HD.

I received my box on Wednesday and upon first impressions, very impressive piece of kit.

However, I've noticed several faults beginning to appear. So I've emailed Humax to give them some feedback.

1/ During playback of a recording, the picture intermittently freezes and a message appears saying " The channel is scrambled or not available"

2/ When accessing the media library or tv guide, the unit will sometimes lock-up leaving it completely inoperable. You then need to reboot the receiver by unplugging it from the mains.

3/ Many programmes scheduled for recording are not being recorded.

4/ Whilst fast forwarding a recording, the picture becomes pixelated and sticks on fast forward mode.

5/ I switched the unit on this morning to discover that all my scheduled recordings are missing.

6/ The front USB port is very shaky, I'm concerned that through time the port will fall inside the receiver.

Anyone else had similar problems?
