I have an Xacti VPC CG10 which takes excellent HD stills and videos. My TV is a 32" JVC HD machine. Linking the camera to the TV with a component lead gives superb quality playback. My problem is getting this same quality playback on to DVD. My HD DVD recorder will not connect with the AV channel on my TV which handles the component input. The only way I can get a result is by linking the camera to the DVD recorder with a standard AV interface cable (red and white - audio, yellow - video). Unfortunately, the resulting recording quality is well less than perfect. I`ve even considered changing my DVD recorder to one with a component input, in the hope that it might solve the problem, but cannot find one with this feature. They only have component outputs, like the one I`ve got. I`ve tried downloading on to my PC and creating a DVD, but again - mediocre quality. I`d be grateful for any suggestions as to how to get the HD contents on my camera on to DVD.

Well the problem (if I am reading this right) is that you are trying to output an HD image through hardare that was just not designed (video chip wise) to do so.

The nearest you can ge to - storing HD on a DVD disc is to write an avchd format disc onto a DVD blank but you will need a hardware player capable of playing back such a disc.

Some BD players will do this like the PS3.
