Could anyone point me to a site where I canread about all the different types of DVD recording media ie DVD-RAM, DVD-RW etc.

I'd like to read up about it, but I don't know where to start. I'm only really interested in real time recording or whatever, not stuff for your PC

Thanks

James

Doesn't quite work the same as CD's I'm afraid. :( Most DVD's are dual-layer, and DVD-R's are only single layer. Plus, you'll find that copying the DVD in it's entirety is a problem since commercial ones are encrypted.

The only solution I think there is, is to copy the film with a 'ripper', and reencode at a lower bitrate so it fits on a single layer disc. This is a bit crap though, and you'd find it very hard to do extra features too, if not impossible.

Can't see me buying one until they create a set-top box unit which acts like a 'write-once' TIVO or VCR.
