Is that true? Sounds as mad as the remake of Manhunter by Brett 'Rush Hour' Ratner!
mallrat68 ...Ring has already been remade once before - in Korea... so why would you be that upset about a Hollywood remake - if and when it comes out, simply do not go to see it (hah!) - and when the DVD of that version comes out, simply do not buy it (yeah, sure!)... did you cringe or whinge when True Lies and The Birdcage came out (both of which, in case you didn't know, were Hollywood remakes of French movies)?... or, more recently, Vanilla Sky (which is a Hollywood remake of a Spanish movie)?...

can open......worms.....everywhere
i was merely making the point that hollywood has a habit of re-making movies in order to pander to the 4:3, no subtitles, dubbed voices, censored violence section of society. I was aware of the remakes you mentioned and heve seen the originals of said movies. i am of the opinion that movies that rely heavily on special effects such as 'true lies' or movies that relate largely to a society and its culture (the birdcage) have reasons to be remade, for example cultural barriers or effect budgets. However i can see no real reason for re-making ring as the film is largely about atmosphere, this has the same effect whatever society you live in (probably a reason for its success globally).........
anyway....
i was just pointing out the news rather than protesting it, ..... can't we all just get along :D

Wise words. Unfortunately, you might not be able to avoid the trailer so easily. And if you're really unfortunate, the trailer might contain massive spoilers for the original film. Ever see the trailer for the wrong-cock remake of the Vanishing?
