Hi, been a while since I last visit this site.
Anyway I have gone from taking motorsport pictures to more people pictures.
We got a son 4 months ago today, and have taken many picturs.
We desided to buy our own little studio lightning.
Two Visico 600 with 80by100cm softboxes.
Today was Morgan's first try in our private studio, and I want some critique bad or good please :)

All Exif data is still there.

I'd say that's a lovely photo. DOF looks just right to me and lighting is great. It looks maybe slightly noisy, what's it look like zoomed in on the orignal?

Some eye contact might have made it a nicer shot but OTOH could easily have made it look too unnatural.

Great photo :-)

Thank you Ragnarak :)

The noise is not there when zooming in, its taken with ISO 100 as well, might be photobucket when resizing it?

I posted this in P.O.T.N forum as well and got a few pointers.
1. abit distortion on his head.
2. get the flashes abit higher and more to the side
3. his ear is missing on his right side, which I now see makes this picture not as good as I hoped for. Gonna have to take more and experiment with the lightning.

He's got a great smile on him. I wouldn't be too worried about the ear personally, since when did all protraits have to be dead on? The only thing I noticed was the catchlights in the eyes were very prominent. I guess moving the lights up/back a bit would reduce them a bit?

He looks to be a very happy little lad though and I suspect he'll be glad to pose for more shots while you experiment.

I like the photo but it looks to me like it has a slight magenta cast.

edit:
I've just had another look and decided it's more orange. Maybe you added a warming filter effect?

Ah, looks good liamail :)

I like the third one best, I didnt add any warm filter to it, only did auto colors
Guess CS4 is not doing the best job, cause yours looked much better

Edit: Thanks for your comment paulsaz :) I agree on the catchlight, thats probably cause the lightning was too close so I am going to adjust that for the next session.

A matter of taste, but while the shopped image is undoubtably correct, it's the one with the warm orangy cast that I'd have on my wall.

Nice to see someone putting some work in and getting down at the kids level with the camera too.
